|Recommended: YesPeaceful — After living in the city this is a perfect getaway for some peace and silence. Staff is great no matter what questions you have they’ll find an answer right away.
|Recommended: NoBeautiful -- but noise is a problem. — It's really beautiful, and a bargain for the finishes and space if you're willing to just be a little outside of downtown Madison, and Waunakee . I've lived in several newer apartment buildings in my life, and even older ones that had better sound insulation. I can't always tell if it's coming from beside, below, the hallway, or if there's a ghost and it's coming from inside the apartment -- it's that bad. It's unfortunate as it's very beautiful and priced right.
|Recommended: YesGreat so far — Overall very happy with the space, cleanliness, quality of finishes, flooring, etc.
|Recommended: NoLike many other reviews, first impressions of this property are that it seems decorated and finished nicely. However, move in and stay a while and you’ll quickly hear all the negatives, literally. The noise from upstairs neighbors is atrocious. Noise from neighboring units sharing a wall is not as bad, but the noise from above is ridiculous. You can constantly hear furniture being moved and stomping so well that I can tell where in the apartment my upstairs neighbor is walking. To be fair to the management company, I’m not sure so much that this is a reflection on them so much as it is on whoever built constructed the buildings. Regardless, too little attention was paid to ensuring better noise reduction—very disappointing and upsetting. In the end, yes, the apartments look good, but unless you have a third floor unit, the looks are forgotten as soon as you begin hearing the clear-as-day stomping above you as you’re trying to sleep, working from home, or simply enjoying a quiet day.
|Recommended: YesGreat, dog friendly — Very nice but can hear upstairs, downstairs neighbors-but somewhat expected in an apartment
|Recommended: YesNew Everything Which Is Nice But A Rough Start — For the monthly rent of a new building apartment, I am not satisfied with the beginning. Without moving any of our belongings into the apartment, the apartment that I moved in was not cleaned from construction debris. Our socks collected debris as we walked across the empty living room floor. Fridge and microwave was dirty inside and outside and the same for the bathrooms. If I did not bring it to the staff's attention, I rather not move in at all. We had missing light covers in laundromat room, a few tiny floor indents like someone dropped a tool, bathroom fan consistently running, garage poorly installed, remote signal for garage intermittently works. A C and Heat is so noisy when coming on, only 1 apartment key when there are two adults. These are things that a new apartment should have taken cared of before tenant arrived. Someone dropped the ball here especially when the rent payment is high. Overall it is not as bad, could be better based on rent versus quality customer service. Outside appearance is nice.

|Recommended: YesGreat Property — The Laurel has been fantastic. Great construction, plenty of space, good precautions for COVID social distancing and mask ordinances in common areas and hallways . Parking is a breeze, team is quick to reply for any questions. Would definitely recommend.
|Recommended: NoBeautiful building, but incredibly noisy — We constantly hear our neighbors above us stomping around and sliding furniture across the floor, which has woken us up in the middle of the night or disrupted us while working from home. We’ve spoken to the neighbors and management numerous times regarding the noise level, but nothing has really changed. There were some communication issues regarding which apartment we were actually moving into as well. Additionally, our oven broke and we’ve been waiting for over 2 weeks for it to be fixed. We’ve lived in other Steve Brown Apartments before and have never experienced these issues.
|Recommended: YesBeautiful finishes and nice management — The buildings are beautifully decorated and nicely constructed. Quiet and very nice area to be located, close to Middleton Madison for anything that you need.
|Recommended: YesBeautiful but horribly noisy — The apartment has extraordinary finishes both inside and out that you typically don’t find in other apartment living. I especially love my spacious deck and expansive windows sliders. Noise level however is terrible. I have lived in other apartments and don’t recall ever living in one that has been this noisy. I am on the second floor and knew that there would be some level of noise, but it’s beyond worse than what I have experienced elsewhere. I would have hoped that knowing what kind of flooring was being installed engineered wood vs carpet in all rooms that additional thought and materials would have been used to reduce the sound to other apartments. Especially in an upscale apartment building in an upscale neighborhood. I hear almost endless stomping and pacing from my neighbors above. Can here when they pull out their counter stools. Get woken at 6am to more stomping and back and forth. Sounds like they are literally in the room. Interior shared side walls aren’t as bad but can hear music from time to time but that’s more normal and expected. This noise issue alone is making me already consider moving when my lease is up. Staff are friendly and have been mostly responsive but did have a couple hiccups with some miscommunication on the actual apartment I was getting and what was available. I had delays obtaining a storage unit key when moving in original didn’t work , I’ve asked about a key that will open the stairwell to the 1st floor because mine isn’t keyed to open it from the foyer, and haven’t heard about a resolution to that. I would recommend this apartment building to friends, but only if they could live on the top floor. Otherwise based solely on the noise alone from lower level apartments, no.
|Recommended: YesMasterly Designed, Comforts of Home — Our experience thus far at The Laurel has been outstanding. It has completely exceeded our expectations. The staff has been prompt and kind in their responses. We are extremely happy that we chose to live at The Laurel. Would absolutely recommend to someone looking for a new place to call home.
|Recommended: YesModern Apartment Community in a Quiet Neighborhood — The Laurel at Kilkenny is a beautiful complex with very spacious apartments. The units are bright and modern, with an open floor plan. The porch deck off the unit is a great size for watching the hawks and geese flying overhead, while providing adequate protection if you like to sit outside and enjoy rainstorms. I love the wood floors, high ceilings, wide doorways, and the wall of glass sliders and side windows which really brings the outside in. Having a washer-dryer in unit is a huge added bonus. I couldn't be more pleased with my decision to call the Laurel home'.
|Recommended: YesGreat place to live — I have been very impressed with my experience here at the Laurel so far. There are a couple of things that come with new construction, like the foundation settling and causing minor hiccups in windows closing correctly, but it’s to be expected. The hard floors make it a little easier to hear upstairs neighbors, but again, nothing is completely soundproof in an apartment building. Staff have been receptive, knowledgeable and accommodating, and maintain high standards when it comes to Coronavirus precautions.
